Tamarindo Beach Costa Rica Green Season

Tamarindo beach is located on the Pacific Coast and considered Costa Rica most developed beach. It is situated in a bay on the Nicoya Peninsula of the Guanacaste province.  The beach offers crystal clear water, white-sand and stunning nature. It’s popular with a wide variety of people including foreign tourist, surfers, honeymooners, and backpackers.

Beach
Over a couple miles long this white-sand beach offers a wide variety of activities from surfing to sunbathing.  It was once considered a secret spot for surfers from around the world. Pictures of Tamarindo beach, surfers, wildlife and town.

Nearby Beaches
Playas Grande is north of Tamarindo beach and separated by a salt water estuary named Estero Tamarindo. Grande is part of the national park system and a protected areas for leatherback turtles. Playa Langosta is south of Tamarindo. It’s more upscale and less touristy than Tamarindo.

Surfing
The offshore winds and swells make this a hotspot for surfing. Lessons are offered at several surf schools & camps.

Nature
Surrounded by national parks to the north and south nature is in no short supply! Watch the nestling Leatherback turtles in Playas Grande. Howler Monkeys can be seen and heard throughout the area.
