Tourism Growth Slows in Costa Rica Due to Economy
August 25, 2008 by Justilien
Costa Rica has experienced a reduction in tourism growth in past couple months. InsideCostaRica.com reports this is due to increases in gas prices, U.S. economic problems and reduction in flights to Costa Rica.
Figures released by Canatur show that in the accumulated growth in tourism in April 2008 for the entire country was 15%, while dropping to 13% in June and 12.2% in July
This is not something to be troubled about for two reasons. From a business standpoint many would gladly welcome a 12.2% growth in their industry. Secondly this is the low-season (green season) for travel. With the U.S. economy situation it is only natural people would reduce their travel spending during the low-season and save it for the high-season to escape the North American Winter.
